School and University Programme
Nanotechnologies play already a major role for the economy and employment. Their importance will increase in the forthcoming years and decades. At the same time, nanotechnologies are not an integral part in the education up to now. Only a few courses for nanotechnologies are offered at the universities.
Nanostructure Technology, University of WürzburgMicro- and Nanotechnology, University of Applied Sciences Munich
Nanotechnology, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
The school and university programme of the Cluster Nanotechnology includes the following activities:
- Implementation of nanotechnology lessons with experiments in the school courses and school visits with the "NanoShuttle"
- Announcement of a yearly school competition
- Advanced courses for teachers and preparation of teaching materials
- Cooperation with educational publishing houses
- Work groups with universities for nanotechnology courses and elements
Nanotechnology is fascinating many people, especially the young generation. At the same time there is a lack of university graduates in science and engineering science courses with a close relationship to nanotechnologies. The school programme of the cluster makes use of the pupils’ interest in nanotechnologies in order to attract first-semester students for these courses. Absolvents of these courses are strongly required by the economy.
