The competence network NanoSilver

The target of the NanoSilver network is the responsible further development of nano silver in production, processing, application, production and disposal. In the network, companies and research institutes work together using the potential of nano silver to implement innovative products, processes and applications in a sustainable, environmentally compatible and resource friendly manner.

The network offers strong partners with outstanding expertise in their respective specialist field. The centre of the network activities is the open exchange with the network partners and joint R&D projects.The partners are supported by a professional network management. The management organises regular meetings, takes care of the administrative tasks and provides comprehensible information on recent insights and achievements.

From 2011-2014, the network NanoSilver was promoted in the scope of the central innovation programme for medium-sized enterprises (Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand; ZIM) of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. This programme provides technology- and industry-comprehensive promotion for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Since 2015, the network is self-financed.

Safe further development of nano silver

For us, the unbiased examination of the opportunities and risks of nano silver is important in the entire product lifecycle. In order to tap the full potential of nano silver and address open questions concerning possible risks, we are particularly committed to the responsible planning of R&D projects. Our focus is the rational and reasonable application of the material. The goal is developing products that offer an additional benefit for the customer while ensuring high product safety.

Explanations and information on already-developed insights and their communication, as well as publication of the subject are important aspects of the network's tasks. New results from science and research are part of the network activities. R&D projects to utilise the opportunities and minimise risks are initiated and pursued from the network. Therefore, the network considers economic, ecological and medical aspects alike and initially represents them through the partners.
