The range of services: from yarn to the finished textile

As a global, family-owned company, Hohenstein offers a unique "full service" of research, testing and certification as well as inspections and labels for product marketing. The portfolio ranges from functionalized textiles and life sciences through comparative product tests to quality inspection and certification of textiles.

Over 1,000 employees work for Hohenstein worldwide, more than 600 of them at the headquarters in Bönnigheim. In addition, employees are spread across a worldwide network of international offices in more than 40 countries. Through expert teams on site, Hohenstein offers its customers a wide range of services in all important production and purchasing regions for textiles. With its worldwide laboratory locations and its constant expansion, Hohenstein would like to offer all customers around the globe the same proven "Hohenstein quality".

Innovative research for successful products

Hohenstein conducts research in the context of public projects and has unique know-how as an application-oriented competence center. Particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) benefit from the practice-oriented knowledge which the Hohenstein scientists develop on an interdisciplinary basis.

This interdisciplinary approach is based on the successful collaboration with other research institutions in areas such as medicine, electronics or microsystems technology. These networks open up completely new areas of application for textile products, thus giving Hohenstein customers additional markets and future opportunities.

The Hohenstein Institute für Textilinnovation gGmbH (HIT) is a founding member of the NanoSilber network. Due to its special expertise as one of the leading research institutions in the field of textile research in Germany, the institute contributes significantly to ensuring that nano-functionalized textiles are safe for people and the environment. In addition to surface functionalization and product performance, questions of biocompatibility, ecotoxicology and the area of environmental technologies (laundry/wastewater/recycling) are the focus of the work.
